Xiaomi has extended its bestseller Redmi A series with the all new and upgraded Redmi 8A smartphone with improvements on all fronts.
Redmi 8A has been launched in an innovative format with Xiaomi employees starring in the launch show. Redmi 8A ships with a massive 5000mAh battery, allowing users long hours of usage with every single charge. Xiaomi has once again set the standard for better customer experience by introducing USB Type-C 18W fast charging support for the first time in this price segment as well as enabling a much better camera experience through a large 1.4μm pixel camera with Sony’s IMX363 sensor.
Anuj Sharma, Chief Marketing Officer, Xiaomi India says, “Redmi A series has been the number one smartphone series for India with Redmi 5A and Redmi 6A leading the market since Q2 2018 to now. Each smartphone in the Redmi A series has redefined entry-level smartphones in India. Redmi 8A is taking the game to the next level with features such as a huge 5000mAh battery, 18W fast charging support, USB Type-C and Sony IMX363 that is usually found in flagship smartphones. We have worked hard in ensuring that Redmi 8A delivers the highest quality with P2i nano coating, and Gorilla Glass 5 along with the best specs for its honest pricing to all our Mi Fans.”
With a 6.22-inch (15.8cm) Dot Notch HD+ display, Redmi 8A features an aspect ratio of 19:9, promising an immersive experience and overall ergonomics. The Aura Wave Grip design extends the ergonomics of the phone to the outside of the body, with fine, textured patterns that make it extremely easy to grip the phone while at the same time reducing fingerprint residues to a minimum.
With the aforementioned 5000mAh high-capacity two-day battery, Redmi 8A comes with support for 18W fast charging support on the Type-C port (10W fast charger inside the box). Redmi 8A is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 439 octa-core chipset and available in two variants - 2GB/32GB and 3GB/32GB, featuring a 2+1 dual SIM slot with dedicated microSD card support that allows further storage expansion up to 512GB. Redmi 8A retains the popular feature which allows users to playback FM radio without the need of connecting their earphones.
One of the most significant upgrades on Redmi 8A is on the camera front; it now comes with a 12MP Sony IMX363 sensor, making it the only smartphone to feature the acclaimed image sensor. With that, Redmi 8A users will be able to take advantage of fast and accurate Dual Pixel Autofocus. The main camera comes with an aperture of f/1.8, and delivers photographs with a large pixel size of 1.4μm. On the front, Redmi 8A sports an 8MP selfie camera; both the front and rear cameras on Redmi 8A are capable of taking AI Portrait mode shots.
Xiaomi’s relentless focus on quality means that Redmi 8A comes protected with Corning Gorilla Glass 5, while P2i’s nano-coating making the smartphone splash resistant.
