Alert! Fake PM CARES Fund UPI ID created to cheat donors

To combat a fight against Coronavirus, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced Prime Minister’s Citizen Assistance and Relief in Emergency Situations Fund (PM CARES Fund). A large amount of donation soon started pouring in from several individuals and organisations.

 

Some fraudster have been reported to have set up fake UPI IDs on the pretext of PM Cares fund to cheat contributors.  

 

The people have been warned by the central government and State Bank of India against these fake Unified Payments Service (UPI) ID created by scamsters for collecting money under PM CARES Fund.

 

Through the PIB FACT Check Twitter handle, the government clarified that pmcares@sbi is the correct ID, and requested donors to be mindful. One can check details of the Fund on the official website: https://www.pmindia.gov.in/

 

One can make online contribution to the fund through the official State Bank of India (SBI) website by visiting: https://www.onlinesbi.com. Here one has to provide details like name, address, PAN number, amount of contribution, email id etc.

 

Donations to the fund can also be made via debit and credit cards, net banking, and RTGS/NEFT.
