Nepalese Prime Minister’s official Twitter account hacked

Nepalese prime minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal’s official Twitter account was hacked in the early hours of Thursday. The handle @PM_Nepal carried the profile name ‘Blur’, which appeared to be a Non-Fungible Token Marketplace for Pro Traders.

The hacked account of the Prime Minister had the profile picture from the verified account of Blur. Blur's official account on the microblogging platform has 240.3K followers.

In the hacked Twitter account, @PM_Nepal pinned a tweet regarding the NFT which read, "The Summoning has been started. Get your BAKC/SewerPass ready and get down in the pit! https://thesummoning.party."

While there hasn't been any official statement from the PM’s office the account was quickly restored.

The bio was changed to "Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers, Government of Nepal." The restored Twitter account has no tweets as of now and has just 1,025 Followers.

Non-fungible token or NFT, gained popularity in 2021 a year after its market value reportedly tripled. NFTs are digital assets, and are unique as no two NFTs are the same. What distinguish them from each other are their different unique identification codes and metadata.
