Reliance Jio, Airtel and Vodafone send SOS to the government on 6 Ghz band spectrum
By MYBRANDBOOK
Telecom industry body COAI, comprising of members from Reliance Jio, Airtel and Vodafone-Idea has sent an SOS letter to union telecom minister Ashwini Vaishnaw. The letter reportedly claims that the Indian delegation at the ongoing ITU World Radiocommunication Conference 2023 is deviating from the stand agreed upon with the industry on the 6 Ghz band spectrum. It said that the failure to designate spectrum in the 6 GHz band for mobile services will harm India's 5G interest.
The 6GHz spectrum goes beyond being a range of frequencies; it signifies a significant opportunity for the telecommunications industry in India to advance significantly in terms of connectivity and communication. Recognizing its immense potential, major telecom players such as Reliance Jio, Airtel, and Vodafone are urgently appealing to the government for their allocation of the 6GHz spectrum.
The significance lies in its ability to offer faster and more reliable internet speeds, enhanced network capacity, and support for emerging technologies like 5G and the Internet of Things (IoT). It is a transformative element poised to revolutionize the way we connect, communicate, and innovate in our digital world.
The sudden demand for the 6GHz spectrum can be attributed to the incredible opportunities it presents for the telecommunication industry. Reliance Jio, Airtel, and Vodafone are all sending an SOS to the government to secure their share of this spectrum because they understand its game-changing potential. This frequency band can provide faster and more reliable internet speeds, increased network capacity, and support for technologies like 5G and IoT.
