Renowned Fashion Designer Rohit Bal Passes Away

Renowned fashion designer Rohit Bal died on Friday after a prolonged illness. He was 63. Rohit Bal has passed away after battling a heart ailment for over a year.
He had been admitted to the intensive care unit at Medanta Hospital in Gurugram in November 2023 but returned to work earlier this year.
Bal was celebrated for his contributions to Indian fashion and was known for his intricate designs and artistry. His passing is a significant loss to the fashion industry.
Rohit Bal made a notable return to the fashion scene earlier this year, showcasing his last collection at Lakme India Fashion Week in Delhi, where he stumbled on the ramp, sparking concern for his health.
Rohit Bal had a pre-existing heart condition and had undergone an emergency angioplasty in 2010 after he suffered a heart attack. A family friend disclosed that Bal has been living with a pacemaker for several years, which started causing issues last year, necessitating his hospitalisation.
Following his passing, the Fashion Design Council of India shared a heartfelt tribute, praising Bal for blending traditional patterns with modern sensibilities, redefining Indian fashion. Tributes poured in from various celebrities, including Shobha De and Masaba Gupta, who remembered him for his artistry and significant contributions to the fashion industry.
