Apple struggles to sell iPhones in India
By MYBRANDBOOK
Apple has seen the departures of three of its vital executives in India in recent time as a result of the company's failure to increase iPhone sales in the fastest-growing major smartphone market. Its national sales and distribution chief, the head of its commercial channels and mid-market business, and the head of telecom carrier sales have vacated their positions at Apple.
Apple’s Indian sales team is currently undergoing a restructuring.
Going by an available report, in the first half of 2018, Apple has sold less than a million iPhones in India, whereas, in 2017 the company sold 3.2 millions. Right now, Apple has a market share of just 2 percent in India.
In India, high tariffs and import duties inflated the price tags of the imported gadgets such as the iPhone, as a result of which consumers are seen gravitating towards cheaper alternatives like Xiaomi and Samsung.
