Google Duo Service is Now Available on the Web

Google Duo, the video chat service from Google, alongside Allo is now available to the Web users, after seeing hints of Duo web support for the last few weeks, the service is going live now. Simply head over to the Duo site, and you can place calls from your browser. Earlier limited to just Android and iOS apps, the service is finally reaching Web-based users, expanding the availability of the service to a whole new set of consumers.
Originally Duo introduced back in 2016 at the Google I/O conference with Google Allo as a part of Google's revamped messaging strategy, the Duo is still going strong, whereas its sister app Allo is all set to end operations next month. As per the Google Play Store listing, Google Duo Android app currently has over 1 billion downloads.

There's no tedious setup to get started with Duo on the web—no phone number authentication or QR code scans like with other Google products. You just need to be logged into your Google account. You can, of course, choose to answer Duo calls on your phone instead of the web (you'll get a browser notification if you're logged in).
The page includes all your synced Duo contacts, so you can click on someone in the list or search to begin a call. The web version supports both voice and video calls, and you get a preview window to make sure you look presentable before beginning. The UI can show either regular or narrow (for a phone screen) video frames.
Google Duo's Web version supports both voice and video calls. You can also answer Duo calls on the Web version. Interestingly, Google Duo currently only works on Google Chrome, Safari, and Firefox browsers and doesn't support Microsoft Edge. If you open Google Duo Web version on Edge, you will be greeted with “Duo for web doesn't work on this browser.”
