SUSE with Intel transforming challenges of an increasingly data-centric world
By MYBRANDBOOK
SUSE has announced its support for 2nd Generation Intel Xeon Scalable processors, formerly code named "Cascade Lake," following on the heels of becoming the first enterprise Linux optimized for Intel Optane DC persistent memory with SAP HANA workloads earlier this year. With solutions running on SUSE Linux Enterprise Server on Intel Optane DC persistent memory and 2nd Generation Intel Xeon Scalable processors, businesses will be better able to address the challenges of massive data increases with greater speed and agility while incurring lower infrastructure and management costs.
Thomas Di Giacomo, SUSE President of Engineering, Product and Innovation, comments, "Organizations today face increasing pressure to become more agile and economically efficient in order to grow, compete and survive. We're helping them harness today's explosive innovation as they embrace hybrid and multi-cloud as well as on-premises environments to fuel and enable their digital transformation. Intel's persistent memory technology will spark new applications for data access and storage, with in-memory database solutions being just one application. It is customer needs that drive our joint innovation with Intel, and we continue to partner to serve customers worldwide who is looking to fuel growth by transforming their IT infrastructure."
Alper Ilkbahar, Vice President and General Manager of Datacenter Memory and Storage Solutions at Intel, says, "Intel is focused on data-centric transformation by disrupting the memory and storage hierarchy and helping our customers address the massive increase in data they face daily. By collaborating with software leaders like SUSE, we are able to help customers more quickly and confidently deploy Intel Optane DC persistent memory, and reap the rewards of this transformational technology."
SUSE is committed to enabling enterprises with open source solutions to implement best-of-breed digital transformation and realize the hybrid and multi-cloud workload management they require to power continuous innovation, competitiveness and growth. Support for 2nd Generation Intel Xeon Scalable processors and Intel Optane DC persistent memory is included in SUSE Linux Enterprise 15 and SUSE Linux Enterprise 12 Service Pack 4.
