COVID-19: Robotic nurses to serve patients in Jharkhand hospitals
By MYBRANDBOOK
Two hospitals in Jharkhand, have recruited robot nurses to deliver foods and medicines to the patients under pandemic treatment. This will minimise the risk of medical staff getting infected from the deadly disease, believes the hospital authorities.
Developed by District Deputy Development Commissioner (DDC) Aditya Ranjan, the remote controlled Cobot (collaborative robot) can carry a load of 30 kg and can operate within a range of 200 feet to 300 feet. The biggest advantage of the Cobot is that it can reduce the chances of the healthcare staff from getting infected and they can monitor and communicate with the coronavirus patients with the Cobot itself which is fitted with a Wifi camera and a microphone for two-way communication.
Apart from the Cobot which is to be used at two hospitals in Jharkhand’s West Singhbhum district, Ranjan has also developed a high-tech isolation bed (I-bed) for COVID-19 patients.
As per reports, the I-beds will be inaugurated at the ANM Skill Centre, Chaibasa Sadar Hospital and COVID-19 Railway Hospital, Chakradharpur respectively on Tuesday.
The usage of Cobot in hospitals will not only be highly effective in taking care of coronavirus patients but will also enhance the safety of the medical staff as few lives of health workers have been claimed earlier, by the deadly virus.
