Sony first “X” series smartphones in India

Sony India has launched two brand-new smartphones in the mid-segment, namely “Xperia R1 Plus and R1”, exclusively for the Indian market. The mid-segment enjoys a dominant share of the Indian smartphone market.
Launched exclusively for the Indian customers, Xperia R1 Plus and R1 have been specially designed for the Indian market, given the much in demand 4G network features, thereby creating the most future-ready smartphones, catering to a unique customer experience.
The smartphones come with a premium 13.2cm (5.2”) HD display with simple extruded form, a 13MP Autofocus camera. With Exmor, Faster uploads via Uplink Data Compression (UDC) with Qualcomm Snapdragon 430, it has the latest network capabilities such as VoLte and 4G Broadcast and comes with Android Oreo 8.0 upgrade ready.
Commenting on this development, Kenichiro Hibi, Managing Director, Sony India, said, “Customer interest is exceedingly high in the smartphone category in India, particularly the mid-segment and we would like to leverage this demand with the launch of our mid-segment smartphones, Xperia R1 Plus and R1, exclusively for India.” He further added, “Sony India has always been committed to India market and support the country’s direction such as ‘Digital India’ and ‘Make in India’ initiatives. Sony India would like to contribute to India business development in multiple aspects.”
Priced at Rs.14,990/- for Xperia R1 Plus and Rs.12,990/- for Xperia R1, these smartphones will be available across all Sony Centers and major mobile stores across India in two colours – Black and Silver. It will also be available on e-commerce platforms like Amazon and Flipkart for sale in India from 10th November onwards.
