BSF shoots down drone from Pakistan carrying heroin
By MYBRANDBOOK
The Border Security Force (BSF) has shot down a drone coming from Pakistan, which was carrying heroin, in Punjab's Amritsar. The BSF recovered nine packets of heroin from the drone, baffling a smuggling bid from across the border. BSF said that the drone was carrying 10 kilograms of Heroin.
BSF Punjab Frontier said in a tweet: “BSF Punjab Frontier troops foiled another smuggling attempt through Pak drone. Vigilant BSF troops fired at the drone coming from Pak and brought it down. Drone carrying 9 packets suspected to be Heroin (10.670Kgs) in a bag were also recovered.”
BSF Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Bhupinder Singh said the drone had penetrated in at least one kilometre area of the Indian territory, before the BSF troops could spot it. Around nine rounds were fired to eventually get it down.
Singh added, “We earlier had caught drones and it is our fourth drone seizure. But it is for the first time that drone and heroin were caught together.” He added that extra batteries were attached to the drone in order to increase its flying capacity.
He said the area will be further searched along with police and other agencies. The BSF officer said the markings on the drone were erased deliberately.
