By MYBRANDBOOK
India's subsea cable infrastructure is highly essential to support next-gen business.
In a first of its kind, the recent ongoing Make in Odisha #MIO witnesses a MoU signed between Government of Odisha and RailTel Corporation Of India for setting up of a neutral submarine cable landing station in Odisha, which will be game-changing for many associate industries viz data centre, entertainment, banking and financial sectors. It is the initiative of the IT department of Odisha ,which is been spearheaded by Mr. Manoj Kumar Mishra, Secretary, Electronics & IT, Govt of Odisha. The MoU is to transform the landscape in IT.
Odisha brings a myriad of investment opportunities that are sure to power the next leg of India’s growth and transformation journey. Odisha has witnessed many initiatives into technology and infrastructure growth in terms of providing land, electricity and several other facilities under its single window policy made under the leadership of the Honourable chief Minister Shri Naveen Patnaik.
India is already having a number of subsea or submarine cables landing on its western and southern shores that provides the underlying foundation of global connectivity infrastructure to boost the resurgent economy. Currently there are 18 subsea cables (20 if Seacom and MENA are considered seperate cables) landing in 15 cable landing stations in 4 cities across India.
With this strategic Submarine Internet project, Odisha even though a late entrant into the IT race, has the possibility to catapult national and international IT & digital hub, within a very short span of time. This initiative could herald large OTT content providers, Telcos, International IT captive units to set up shops thereby generating lakhs of high skilled employment, Data Centers & make Odisha truly a LEAD indicator of Digital India Mission.
It's a great initiative to support the next-gen businesses . This will bring a huge opportunity to the city of Lord Jagannath's own city PURI which could be the next business hub for the National and International companies to start the operation near the Sea, as the new Airport has been proposed to come up soon and with this entire Odisha, Eastern UP, Bihar, Jharkhand, Andhra Pradesh and the nearing countries including Nepal, Bhutan, Myanmar and Bangladesh are going to get benefit in terms of improving the connectivity and trade. Going forward, PURI could be seen as the next business hub like HongKong.
The government has to plan to come up with a SEZ in PURI, to invite Global companies for setting up their offices in PURI. This will give an advantage of working and development of the resources from work from somewhere to work from anywhere, with Odisha as the destination.
